Skin & hair

Healthy skin and hair express vitality, give us self-confidence and play a major role in our sense of well-being. Their condition is influenced by many factors and also tells us something about our physical state of health.

The skin is a vital organ and has a variety of functions. It plays a role in regulating body temperature and protects us from infections, heat and radiation, among other things. The skin is also an important sensory organ through which we perceive temperature, pain or pressure.

The upper layer of skin (epidermis) renews itself about every month. During this process, new cells are constantly formed and old ones are shed. With increasing age, the structure of the skin layers changes, collagen formation in the skin decreases and the skin becomes thinner and less elastic.

Our skin is exposed to many external influences every day. UV radiation, exhaust fumes, heat or dryness can affect skin health, weaken the skin's protective mechanisms and accelerate skin ageing. Internal factors such as hormones and genetic factors also have an influence on the condition of our skin and hair.

Skin and hair should not only be cared for from the outside, but also from the inside. A balanced diet plays an important role in this. In addition, a sufficient supply of micronutrients such as B vitamins, vitamin A and the trace elements zinc and selenium are important for maintaining normal skin and hair. Vitamin C is important for the collagen formation of the skin.
